African Copper Gets License for Botswana Copper Mine
2006-12-22 04:06 (New York)

By Carli Lourens
Dec. 22 (Bloomberg) -- African Copper Plc, a U.K. company
building a mine in Botswana, said the government of the southern
African nation granted it a 25-year mining license for the
project.
The license for the Dukwe mine is conditional on the
company paying Botswana a 3 percent royalty fee from the
project, London-based African Copper said today in a Regulatory
News Service statement. Production will start in 2008, it added.
Shares of the company rose 2 pence, or 3.4 percent, to 60.5
pence at 8:54 a.m. in London, taking their gains for the year to
27 percent.
