One of my fundamental beliefs is that there is considerable good in the worst of us and much evil in the best of us. And under the right conditions these can come forth.

Have you as a Chinese heard the story of the Nazi diplomat Rabb who served in China when the Japanese were ravaging that nation in the 1930s. This Nazi performed one of the most heroic acts in history almost single handedly saving tens of thousands of Chinese civilians from being massacred by the Japanese when their army ran amuck in Nanking during 1937. His Nazi armband enabled him to shield countless helpless Chinese from certain death.

On the other hand we see the Jews who suffered horrible depredations from the Nazis waging a merciless war of murder and ethnic cleansing against almost defenseless Palestinians for three generations running.

Truth can indeed be stranger than fiction
