I picked some persimmons for one of my neighbors from the tree of another neighbor.The gal is a manic depressive and far too overweight to climb a ladder. She has never had a Christmas without certain persimmon cookies. Every year I chair the Xmass family charity for a Catholic club I belong to.( no laughing please) This morning I delivered the goods to the families with the aid of a Spanish speaking liaison. One of the Moms had her husband shipped back to Mexico after he was picked up for domestic abuse.She got a job and is trying to make a go of it with two little kids. Her English is very poor. She rents a bedroom in an apartment inhabited by another family.She cried when she got the gift cards and presents. It's an emotional time for the people who get the help but it's what Christmas is all about. Feliz Navidad!
