I don't have any particular "spin." ________ is a religion, and the Constitution of _____________ guarantees freedom of religion.

Whoever is in charge of the ______ is taking an indefensible stance, but ____________ don't tend to have the best lawyers, the pay isn't very good.

.......

And various pundits will pundify.

Constitution guarantees the freedom of religious worship as well as the "freedom not to believe in any religion" and affirms that "religious bodies and religious affairs are not subject to any foreign domination."

… Since, by difficult experience and harsh lessons, the missionaries from foreign lands are associated with invasions, wars, and chaos, in historical times and on full view today, the locally developed and non-evangelical and non-jihad and non-feudal religions are preferred over the rest, as a matter of homeland security.

There are plenty of faithfuls all around China, just of a different brand, requiring no salemanship and pushing. General attitude is, I guess, that faith ought not be like detergent, and religion should not be pushed ... you know, freedom, to believe or not.

I witnessed US embassy arranged townhall meetings between groups of visiting US congress folks and Chinese students who are self-professed Christ or Buddha faithful accompanied by their American school pals, and the debates on the issue of religious freedom simply floored the visiting team as to the precise logic and clarity of thought, the scientific rationality, and human compassion. It was home team 10 and visiting team 0. But then again, the visitors were Congress people ;0)

In Hong Kong, a separate and distinct customs and immigration territory that is ranked the freest and wealthiest in the galaxy, where habeas corpus still means people do not get kidnapped, renditioned, tortured, put away in the hot tropics away from family, and then released just as mysteriously, we have religion and faith plenty, and all exist peacefully, because no one takes away anyone else's home

How would you explain such strangeness?
