one meets a lot of narrowminded people with this attitude in California.

absolutely floored by the summer heat and humidity. They were joggers, but they couldn't hack it in Austin in the summer.

this is a legitimate knock on Austin. it is imo unhealthy to exercise outdoors in the daytime in the summer (otoh, there's no California smog, which is also unhealthy for exercise). back when i was a starving student i only jogged early morning or late at night. now i've got a Landice L8.
