I don't think it is, or should reasonably be considered, self evident that good things last and evil things do not.

Evil things often inspire more opposition so its likely they are less likely to last for a long time, but its not universal. You point out how evil can pretend to be or do good. I'm not sure that the only exception.

More importantly you don't respond to the point that Hawkmoon and I have made. Assuming evil ideologies, empires, governments, religious movements etc. don't last as long isn't a reason not to oppose them, or even a reason not to oppose them with force. Even if they don't last, they can make the world a worse place before they collapse.
