I received the following letter in my email today and thought it was pertinant. Thanks Peter for the information!
Larry, My name is Peter Velez. I am a partner in the New York City IVDS b license. I keep up with your (sad) chats re Struthers/Wincomm via the Silicon Investor. I know how hungry for info you guys are so here is some:
October 1-3, New Orleans Hyatt Regency, Symposium 97 IVDS License Holders Meeting Hosted by ISTA, Interactive Video Data Service Trade Association
The symposium will concentrate on IVDS manufacturers and applications (service) providers. Wincomm is listed as one of the companies attending but not making a presentation. On the list your company is listed as WINCO/WINCOM. EON and RTT will also be there, as presentors.
Other presentors are: Gateway Communications ADEMCO Intrinzix Inter-Con/PC Datamatic Digideck DBSI/GEMS General Instruments Perot Systems Command Control ICS SEA
Other attendies are: Mission Hill Group CyberNet Technologies Inc Comtec Inc CableLabs ITS Corp Info. Transmission Systems Pagenet Inc Pyramid Imaging Scientific Atlanta Inc Inc. Phonex Data Corp
ISTA is about a year old and is an association of license holders. I don't know if WINCOM is a member, it costs money to be a member. My company ICG, Inc will be represented there but we are not a member. For about $475 anyone can get into the Symposium. For those of you that like to do homework, a contact at ISTA is Don Louniboa at 707-578-7825. Anyone of you can attend this meeting. I can't go but would like to. Two of my folks are going and will bring back lots of info. It would be good to see what WINCOM is up to.
I am hoping (and praying) that something will happen for all of us at this meeting of the licenses, equipment and services. I invested in 1994 and am still waiting. I have a piece of one license, NYC(b). You may want to check but I think WINCOM has my license on its list, and it shouldn't. EON has often claimed to have my license, and it doesn't. To wish you guys good luck I have to wish Rauol good luck so I do. Please share this info. Were it not for Hinton I would have missed the Washington Post article. The info on Cellnet and its competitor, Schlumberger is very important. The meter reading, etc., market is still open. It's a top choice. But if we arrive too late to this party there will be no cake. Did you know that Houston Light and Power gave EON $20,000,000 to deploy a meter reading system, using IVDS? Things are looking up.
Best regards to all Struthers investors,
Peter Velez |
