The Agitator blog

After letting the city slip into a "crime emergency" last summer, socking the city's taxpayers for a new corporate welfare baseball stadium (then dropping the ball on getting the damn thing built at nearly every step of the way), the Washington, D.C. city council voted itself a 24 percent pay raise last week, making them one of the highest paid city councils in the country. Not bad for a gig that's supposed to be part-time.

The council also approved another $3.5 million in taxpayer funding to help the NAACP relocate from Baltimore to D.C.

You may not have heard about all of this because it was passed just before the holidays. Which I gather was the point.
