The tie does actually sound ghastly. I think Joe may do that on purpose, just to make the point that he is so secure in himself that ties do not matter. Or perhaps he is very frugal, and gets all of them at second hand stores.

I would have to say that if you lay off the large quantities of hard liquor late at night, you might have a higher tolerance for bright colors early in the morning!!!
