Soon after Citigroup released a report saying that Siliconware Precision Industries Limited (SPIL) landed new NAND flash and handset customers, Taiwan-based media pointed out Samsung Electronics and Hynix Semiconductor as possibly being the new customers.

A report released by Citigroup's Andrew Lu on December 20 indicated that SPIL is believed to have landed a new multi-chip package (MCP) NAND flash customer from Korea and two new handset IC customers in the US using chip-scale packaging (CSP).

A Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report today cited SPIL company executives as saying that SPIL has land MCP orders from Samsung while Hynix is for single chip packaging.

A Chinese-language Apple Daily report also cited investors as saying that the new NAND flash customer is Samsung and the new handset customer is US-based Silicon Lab.
