I had enormous respect for Gerald Ford. I was really mad when he pardoned Nixon, but about a week or two later realized that it was not only the right thing to do but necessary. For those who remember the period, there was a media feeding frenzy and the country was not going to go forward unless Nixon was pardoned. I lived in Atlanta while Carter was Governor and was very familiar with him. I begged people not to vote for Carter since he was not a good Governor. He was a worse President than even I imagined.
