I liked Invincible. Saw that this week, and liked it a lot better than I thought I would. Nicely done.

Rented Heading South with Charlotte Rampling- was so so. Set in Haiti- story isn't very compelling, and the characters were fairly uninteresting. The Haitian setting was the best part of the movie, but I think I'd opt for a better movie with a Haitian setting- if there is one.

Gabrielle- rarely (almost never in fact) does a costume drama bore me to tears, but this one did. The clothes and set decorations are lovely, everything else is truly tedious.

I have 49 UP coming in the mail. I can't WAIT. I've watched these films with such respect and interest. THIS, I've always felt, is one of the really noble purposes for film. I own 42 up, and it is such a fascinating work. I really am looking forward to seeing what the last 7 years have done to this band of people brought together by a film project.
