See synonyms at defeat. 2. To quiet or bring under control by physical force or persuasion; make tractable. answers.com I haven't seen anything in Iraq that has conquered and subjugated the US army. If anything, the complaint by some Iraqis is that the US army has conquered and subjugated them, and they want their conquerors to leave. You can try again, but I'll probably just have to subdue your argument again.
