Boy, things sure have changed since we kept two saddle horses... in a barn in our back yard. My dad had a custom western saddle made from elk hide he had shot. It was beautiful and the only saddle all of us used. My grandfather gave us his old saddle, and when two of us went riding, my little brother got stuck with the old saddle. We grew alfalfa, also in our back yard, for the horses. We had to buy a bag of grain whenever. There certainly were no riding lessons, to be sure. But, that was a very long time ago and a whole lot less expensive.
