Running Out Of Steam?????

From the above technical perspectives, the rally appears to be running out of steam. Yes, we have been looking for a correction for a long time but we can only expect the divergences seen here to have a negative impact going forward.

It may seem ridiculous to comment that the S&P 500 has failed to put in a new high for 8 days, but looking back to the July lows, the longest stretch of days without a new high was 14 into mid-November. This is the second longest string sans a new high (print high). At some point, the S&P must necessarily continue to fail to put in new highs and will correct. All rallies eventually end.

With "window dressing" for 2006 about complete, that time could easily be now.

As it is, our chart is not looking for much downside, only a modest zag down to our support zone between 1361 to 1378. That's a whopping 4.4% at most and perhaps no more than 3.3%.
