at Lake Buena Vista
Lightbridge, Inc. (NASDAQ:LTBG), a leading provider of customer acquisition and retention solutions for the global telecommunications industry, and Trans Union Corporation today announced the introduction of the Fraud Detect Model, a new fraud scoring technology for the telecom industry. This exclusive agreement with Trans Union, the nation's leading consumer information company, will result in the telecommunications industry's only subscription fraud solution to offer risk assessment and scoring capabilities.
Under terms of the agreement, Lightbridge will customize and integrate Trans Union's risk assessment and scoring technology with Fraud Detect(TM). Fraud Detect is a multi-faceted fraud detection tool, provided under a previous agreement with Trans Union, that analyzes an applicant's Social Security number, date of birth, address, telephone number and driver's license information and identifies any discrepancies. Fraud Detect is also part of Lightbridge's Fraud Sentinel(TM) suite of pre-screening tools for detection and prevention of subscription fraud. The scoring technology, called the Fraud Detect Model, will review Fraud Detect's error messages, such as date-of-birth and Social Security number discrepancies, and apply alerts in the form of a numeric score that will represent the likelihood of fraud. The score generated from the Fraud Detect Model, combined with Fraud Detect's error messages, offers carriers a more powerful method for recognizing new or unusual patterns to identify fraud probability.
``Coming on the heels of Lightbridge's recent announcement to acquire Coral Systems, a developer of fraud and churn solutions, this relationship with Trans Union furthers our commitment to provide the industry's most effective subscription fraud prevention solution,'' said Michelle Wheeler, Lightbridge's product marketing manager. ``The relationship also strengthens Lightbridge's Telesto(TM) offering, the industry's only network of integrated customer acquisition and retention solutions.''
``Lightbridge and Trans Union are aligning once again to address one of the biggest issues facing the telecom industry today,'' said Dennis Manning, vice president of Trans Union's Business Diversification Group. ``Fraud Detect, the result of our first partnership, has made significant strides in helping carriers combat subscription fraud at the point of sale, and we anticipate the Fraud Detect Model will further Lightbridge's leadership position in this area.''
Available in October and sold separately, the Fraud Detect Model will require Fraud Detect to operate.
