2006 Toaster Invitational

The winners of the inaugural Toaster Invitational are:

Year End: Elroy with a stunningly correct prediction of 37.89, just .10 off of the 4:00 PM (EST)Closing Price of 37.79.

High-Low: Maurice whose High 49.45 and Low 36.42 deviated respectively from the 2006 High/Low for Qualcomm (53.01 and 32.76 as posted on Yahoo) by 3.56 and 3.66 for a total deviation of 7.22

These results are tentative. Thru Wednesday I will entertain appeals based solely on my mathematical calucations. Elroy and Maurice, please pm me with your shipping addresses. As soon as the results become final, I will have your toasters engraved and shipped to you.

Comments:

Elroy narrowly beat out TheHammer (38) and Maurice (38.42) and the three of them bested the rest of us by a wide margin. Despite all of the excellent analysis often offered on both Q boards, the rest of us should definitely keep our day jobs. An overwhelming majority of Board Members were wildly off the mark in both categories.

The High Low was also a contest between a handful of players with again most participants missing these categories by a wide margin. EricL (much maligned for his negativity) finished a very close second to Maurice with a total deviation of 8.84 to Maurice's 7.22. Next were Data Rox (11.74) and Eric Martin at 12.88.

As for 2007, assuming we have a good turnout there will be a 2007 Toaster Invitational and at this point, I am not inclined to adopt Maurice's Stanley Cup model but rather will offer "vintage" toasters each year to the winners. If anyone has suggestions for improving the contest, please advise.
