Walter Cronkite started the Defeatist Movement in the U.S. when he threw up his hands post the Tet Offensive and declared America could not win the Vietnam War.

The senior journalist had gained so much respect in his more sensible youth that half the country mistakingly looked on him as a father figure in those days. Most Americans have realized in the intervening yrs that sadly Cronkite had started to believe his own press...just like Jimmy Carter. In their dotage, both men have done more harm than good for the U.S.
