Zip compression lets you save space and network bandwidth when storing files or sending them over the wire. Z
ip is a popular standard for data transfer and storage because it saves both disk space and network bandwidth. Typical text and database files can be compressed to as little as 10 percent of their original size. Even though binary files don't compress as well, 50 percent compression is often achieved
