Why construe anything more complex than stupidity behind the timing?
Because I do not believe that those over paid think tanks in Washington screw up again with a bad advise. I mean, they went to war to Iraq not knowing the consequences, be it human lives, financial, power vacuum in Iraq, civil war etc. I think they should be fired and all the tax money that is being funneled to those organizations should be cut off. They are not doing their jobs, they are giving bad advise on foreign policies. They keep putting the country (USA) in the cross-hairs of fundamentalist and giving the world a good reason to hate America.

It is far fetched to be just "bad timing" or stupidity. I would expect Iran, Syria, Hizbolah and Al Qaida to implement bad timing and stupidity, not the US. However, it is expected more of the US' foreign policy advisors.
