my end of year review of ICGE

(market cap $0.401B)

INTRO Here's my semi-annual exercise to see if I remember why I own the stocks I own. I post it in case it helps others too.

Internet Capital Group ain't dead yet. Most of the media uses it as a kicking dummy though. Such disconnects between perception and reality are opportunities for investments and I now consider ICGE to be an investment rather than a speculation. They have demonstrated consistent management and consistent improvement in their financial health. I still think that they could work themselves into being an Internet version of Berkshire Hathaway.

Perceptions won't change quickly though because the reporters that have been deriding ICGE can't just turn around and praise it the next week. In addition, properly analyzing such incubator holding companies is always difficult because they don't generate revenue in a conventional manner.

The Internet is growing. Their companies are good enough (though no Googles yet). Because no one expects them to succeed, they have more elbow room in which to maneuver.

I will continue to HOLD, and would consider buying more if I found some cash. I think this one will be a very long term hold.

DISCLAIMER LTBH since 2000 and recently bought some more.
