my end of year review of TGEN

(market cap $0.059B)

INTRO Here's my semi-annual exercise to see if I remember why I own the stocks I own. I post it in case it helps others too.

Targeted Genetics was hoping to have one of the first gene therapies to market in or around 2005. Oops. That is what I remember from one of the early stockholders meetings. I am surprised and impressed that despite a radical trimming of the pipeline and questions about the treatments that are in trials, the company survives and may yet cure at least treat AIDS and arthritis.

I continue to HOLD but have been selling and eating losses. I am not convinced that the arthritis treatment will succeed without a legal battle (AMGEN has made claims as I recall), and am not sure how long it will take for the non-profit AIDS trials in Africa will take.

I maintain hope, but hope is a lousy investment strategy. The stock is so low that selling won't generate much cash. It is easier to leave it where it is. If they get close to either goal, the stock should respond positively, but I've waited long and will bank my enthusiasm pending conclusive news.

DISCLAIMER LTBH since 2000, though those shares are gone. The oldest ones are 2001, which may go soon to balance some gains.
