But NZ is increasingly murderous, usually in domestic conflict rather than in home invasion.

A school mate of my wife's, Susan Burdett, was killed by Malcolm Rewa. If she had had a gun instead of a baseball bat, which he used to kill her, he might not have been able to disarm her.
