Thanks, I did not carry to a conclusion-------------

From the article, the following quote

"Dallek points out that Obama additionally offers a new version of the African-American story: "He's not part of the slave history. He is part of the immigrant experience. This gives him a different image for many people."

My point is that he is neither part of the slave history or is he a part of the immigrant experience. By birth he is an American Citizen-----born in Hawaii of a Kansas mother and a Kenyan father, whom he barely knew.

If his father was an immigrant, he can claim the immigration connection.

Unless his father was an immigrant, I don't see this as an immigrant experience as the writer of the article claims.

If his father was not an immigrant-------could be that Obama has dual citizenship in America and Kenya. Technically he would be a citizen of two countries America and Kenya.

Quite frankly, I think he should emphasize being an American and cease the emphasis on the mixed race.

What matters is what he believes in, what he wants to accomplish as President. What does he bring to the table that will persuade people to vote for him.
