Well, he has been silenced, so a lot of people can breathe a sigh of relief that he is not now able to be a witness to their schemes.

Another fever dream gone unfulfilled. Bush's "critics" have been cackling a long time that the rush to execution was to make sure that Saddam couldn't one day spill the beans.

My first question is: Then why didn't he while he still could, through the various outlets at his disposal, even after his arrest?

He delivered himself of many empty tirades during his trial. You'd think he could have sneaked in a devastating line or two about the nefarious doings of, say, the Bush Crime Family and Big Oil? (Was it that Ramsey Clark would not allow such an unprincipled defense?)

Heck, why didn't Saddam let drop a few effective Words of Malicious Destruction just before he was hanged? Was it that he didn't have long enough to prepare his thoughts?

But now we'll never ever know. *sigh*
