Global warming DOESN'T mean that it will get warmer all over the globe. It does mean that weather patterns humans have come to depend on for thousands of years will break down. The MEAN global temprature is going up, indisputably.

I read an admittedly science fiction book, "50 Below Zero", where Washington DC gets VERY cold during global warming because the Gulf Stream quits circulating. The book was based on computer models of local weather in a globally warmed future, so it might better be described as future fiction, not science fiction.
