Many people fail because they don't understand the Povlovian conditioning angle. If one is not prepared for the situations that normally stimulate lighting up, then it is much more difficult.

If one has a plan for those situations, then fighting the urge is easier. Bang on the steering wheel to the beat of the music. Have a glass of Arizona Tea after meals. Etc.

Sometimes miss it, so I have to state that this is profound advice.
