Hello, glad to be aboard.

I've been in Fidelity's variable annuities for over 15 years.
They've been very good for me contrary to what many money and investment managers say about all annuity programs.

Presently, I am somewhat underweighted with more money market exposure than fund in my holdings. However, I will say that I like and have Equity Income, the Balanced Fund, Overseas, Contrafund, Value Leaders and Natural Resources in that order.
Equity Inc. is my biggest fund holding but Money Market paying close to 4.5% remains about 60% of the balance.

I have traded heavily in and out of annuity funds in the past (because of no charges and no current impact on taxes) and have been reprimanded sternly by Fidelity's Annuity management who look askance on frequent trades. It's imperative that one doesn't move stuff around in less than 30 days and especially in some sector groups like Natural Resources.

I am close to soon having to take disbursements yet I feel that younger investors can tackle more of the hot shot entities in the groups like Dynamic Cap or sectors like Health Care and Cyclical Industries (the latter which can't be traded before 90 days). The annuity reps are always very helpful so one can discuss activity with them.

The Morgan Stanley group led by Emerging Markets Equity has been particularly strong in the past. Here again movement in and out is closely monitored. One can safely hold these for long lengths of time IMO.
