>What percentage of those emergencies were due to smoking? Drug use? Overweight? STDs? Much of this stuff is preventable.

I don't know, and I don't care really.

You make a mistake and you're poor, you die. You make a mistake and you're rich, that's OK... you can afford it.

>Funny how we ban trans fats, but we can't ban tobacco or alcohol, and many on this thread want to legalize pot.

That's another argument for another time.

>Don't buy into the status symbol crap. Don't buy into the latest trends or fashions. Don't feed the tabloid nonsense that litters our grocery stores. Don't push the whole class envy that only succeeds in making us feel sorry for ourselves.

That's not the point. I don't give a f**k about how much attention Paris Hilton gets. The problem is that she can buy hundreds of houses and spend millions of dollars on shoes and partying when people in this country are "less than nutritionally secure," and she didn't even earn her money.

>By the way, whenever the "religious right" complains about open displays of sexuality on TV, especially of the homo kind, the mainstream media tells them to simply change the channel. That's what you should do as well. If you're sick of Paris Hilton, "change the channel."

Once again, not the point at all.
