Kumar, if he's talented, can't he get sponsorship, loans and part time work with the sponsoring company? <Had a chat with my nephew in India - wants to do a Masters in Chemical Engineering. Applied to a bunch of universities. He does not expect an answer till September next year. >

Companies are scouring the planet for talented people these days.

I used to work in BP Oil [in R&D among other things] and I used to say BP should establish education and research facilities in China and India. I thought there were umpty million people underemployed growing rice and doing earth-mover work by hand who should be doing BP R&D.

BP was then, 20 years ago, paying 50 pounds an hour to Sunbury Research Centre [in house transfer price] and 60 to Deutsche BP. I got some work done in South Africa for about a tenth of what I'd have had to pay to get the literature search done by Sunbury people.

China and India could do it for a tenth of what we paid to South African researchers.

BP needs loads of chemical engineers. It was an excellent company to work for [I liked it].
