I found it interesting that being "*fined* $35,000 by the Federal Election Commission for failing to *accurately report* contributions" rated a HIGHER placement on the 'corruption list' (ALL the way up to '#2'!) then pleading "guilty to federal charges of conspiracy to commit bribery, mail fraud, wire fraud, and tax evasion. He was sentenced to 8 years, four months in prison...." :-)
(Also pretty ODD, don't you think, that William Jefferson was ONLY #8 on the list... and Bob Ney ONLY #9, while HASTERT ranked HIGHER? Or that 'dishonorable mentions' even bothered to include Obama, who... as best I can see, they only 'charge' with doing something 'complicated', :-), and having an association with someone who is under 'investigation'... while David Safavian, indicted on five counts of lying about his dealings with former lobbyist Jack Abramoff and obstructing a Senate investigation of his dealings, ranks lower then that?)
Must be a pretty odd yardstick these guys doing the 'ranking' are using (either that, or *ESP* and non-public knowledge.... :-) |
