As a long time (mostly) lurker I'd like to thank the board for the consistent reminders to use stops. I understand the importance - intellectually. I am amazed how difficult it is emotionally.

My New Year's resolution is to not tolerate losing trades. Capital preservation is rule one.

After the pre-New Years slap down of silver I took a large position in SLV. After a rise I moved stops to break-even. I was just stopped out.

My reasoning for trading SLV is two-fold. First is the volatility. It provides a great opportunity for profits (and losses if you're not careful).

Second is my concern for the broader market cratering. I'm afraid if it does it will take PM stocks down with it.

My hope is that both Silver (via SLV) and Gold (via GLD) will fair much better that PM stocks during a downturn.

I'd sure appreciate hearing others thoughts on point two.

Good luck and good trading in 2007.
