I don't know how ya all feel but the pomp and ceremony on Ford including a national holiday has seemed overdone. Leaving aside the pomp and ceremony for the time being, Ford was an insider who worked his way up the establishment ladder. He was not a complicated person. You can just look at his background and fully understand the man. He was an eagle scout. You are not going to be an eagle scout without diligence, hard work, and buying into the values of the boy scouts code of honor. He was an All American football player from the University of Michigan. He was not a cheerleader and he did not get into the University of Michigan through some legacy affirmative action loophole. He got into and earned a degree form Yale University Law School through diligence and hard work. He served his country in the military during World War II. He served in the House of Representatives for more than 25 years. He was an insider. He was an inside the beltway establishment person. I can easily see how a person can be corrupted by being an insider. I can also see the humbleness, earnestness, and the eagle scout that left a mark on this man. He was thrust into the presidency by accident and by accident he also left us with Cheney and Rumsfeld. He was basically a decent person that brought our country together after the Richard Nixon fiasco. But the final judgment may be the harm that he brought to us because of his Cheney and Rumsfeld legacy.
