I haven't looked into this situation but I can come up with many different reasons why the CFO and CEO exercised and sold these options that would have nothing to do with the merger. The numbers aren't that big, relatively speaking, so I'm not so sure these are "bearish" indicators.

However, mergers tend to take time and they may be cashing in a few chips now, to ride out the lengthy wait for the combined companies to start hitting on all cylinders.
