Del,
I have health issues, including e-coli, and associated equipment costs, as a topic, thanks.
> It is my understanding that Odwalla is going to pasturize everything and is trying to get the FDA to force their competition to do the same thing.
Not according to Odwalla's website. See odwalla.com
Quoting: "Question: Why are you not flash pasteurizing other juices? Answer: At this time there have been no reported cases or FDA data suggesting that the E.coli O157:H7 bacteria is a significant risk in juices other than fresh unpasteurized apple juice. At this time there have been no recorded cases of E.coli O157:H7 in citrus-based products." [This is good news for FRSH.] Also "While we're excited about our achievements in the engineering process for Flash Pasteurization that are allowing us to make a safe and great tasting apple juice, we hope that heat treatment is only a temporary measure. In the spirit of innovation that brought Odwalla into being, we will continue to aggressively research alternative methods for producing a safe and unpasteurized apple juice."
I've seen a fairly extensive line of Odwalla products at the local Whole Food Markets, along with FRSH, Naked Juice, etc.
