Symmetricom made an acquisition for cash($16 million) for a company that does quality control of enterprise system such as triple play. This will include multiprotocol such as Mpeg4 problem in data compression of existing stereo audio formats. Once they discover the Mpeg4 problems; using Mpeg1 will make iptv viable for many movies played in home theaters. First one will be Italian telco iptv? Mpeg4 has too high a compression ratio to compress complex audio formats. The camcorders using Mpeg4 had very simple microphone setups. Movies have very complex sound stages that require Mpeg1 to compress the audio data(5 or 6 channels or more).
