By the time you get to a Party convention it's usually all over but the speachifying and the balloon drops.

And, each go-round it seems the primary selection process gets pushed earlier and earlier --- and this one will be the EARLIEST yet (what with the advances in the primary calendar, etc.)

I'd suggest a much more useful thing to keep an eye on: MONEY.

(Anyone that hasn't raised at least $10 million by the end of this year is either totally OUT of the contest... or they are way back in the second tier, from which V.P. is the only remaining possibility.)
