One of the biggest problems that will come out of global warming is that we have fragmented the ecological systems that under normal circumstances would allow flora and fauna to migrate along as its preferred habitat shifts physical location. Add in the current rate of climate change, much faster than than in the past except during catastrophic events like giant meteorites and volcanic super-eruptions which caused enormous waves of extinctions, and you have a recipe for ecological disaster.

Turning to human beings, add in the proportion of the earth's population and infrastructure that resides within 10 metres of sea level and hence is likely to be flooded and the picture gets very very ugly.
