First, the old-time meaning: A kiosk traditionally was a sort of multi-sided bulletin board built in a very public place upon which were posted the latest news items, even newspapers for all to read. This is customary in Europe. Now, the new kiosk contains a computer that can display new items, do special tasks like calculate golf handicaps, and of course ADVERTISE.
