On China and gold I found the following at another website message board and not a "goldbug" board either. I believe the poster, Pastor Jim Park, is an instructor at a protestant college somewhere in the Philippines:

'China folk moving dollars to gold-

Well folks there I was teaching about Solomon to my group of Chinese graduate students here in the Philippines.

I mentioned that in the time of Solomon there was so much gold that silver counted for nothing. I then brought up, do the common people of China save gold?

My students who come from Shanghai, Beijing and Wenzhou looked at me sheepishly and said, "Well pastor Park, we used to save dollars but now we are saving in gold."

That is a billion people saving gold instead of dollars.
