As for "seeing matters differently," do you disagree with my statement that the Iraqi government is a sovereign nation?
A lot of people do, calling them variously "puppets", "poodles", "lapdogs", and the like.
But I don't see how we had any control over the election process in Iraq. The people voted.
It is true that we invaded Iraq in order to depose Saddam, and other reasons it's not necessarily worthwhile to go into, since I refuse to get drawn into something that's been debated ad nauseum since 2002.
But invading Iraq did not change the fact that it's a sovereign nation, with its own laws, its own justice system, and its own penal system.
Unfortunately (or maybe not) it's not possible to impose American style laws, government, and justice system on other countries. They do things their own way. |
