It immediately occurred to me upon reading the reference piece that the administration is being altruistic and benevolent, fine, but at the same time it is equally intent at taking the luster off of China's recent similarly -altruistic and -benevolent overtures to many of the continent's member states. I came across an interesting piece that addresses a related theme that points to one of China's trade involvements with Nigeria only yesterday, here: Message 23157120 To which I responded, in part: {slightly edited for venue) "some of the points you make in your post are among the primary reasons I've been as focused on Africa as I have been, as evidenced by the number of stories on the subject that I post here. For many reasons, both those that are obvious and some that are not, I think we're about to see a slow-but-steady reversal in economic diaspora starting to take effect, at least with respect to certain parts of the continent."
