Hi geode00; Re: "Clinton created some 21 million jobs which averages to over 236,000 per month, EVERY ..."

BS. Clinton, like any other US president, has direct control over a very small number of jobs and the number hasn't increased much from year to year. The US economy in general created those jobs, Clinton had almost nothing to do with it.

The US economy is largely driven by the decisions of private persons in the US and abroad. The whole US government, which consists of thousands of elected officials, has little control over the decisions of US private citizens. It is the citizens as a whole that drive the economy, not the government.

What the president does is take what credit he can for whatever good things transpire, and avoid what blame he can for the bad things that transpire. But in fact, he has little control over these things. If the presidents could press a button, or make a ruling, and the result was a healthy economy and full employment, all the presidents, not just democrat or republican, would wear that button out by pressing it, as it is the state of the economy that largely determines whether they get reelected.

But the sad truth is that there is no such button. What there is, is the fact that humans are a herd animal that tends toward hero worship.
