Generally a good article slan, but I have two comments that Rich didn't address:

1) it was the democratic house that cut off the money that actually ended that war. Ford had told the North Vietnamese that if they invaded the south he would redeploy troops.

Ford was a huge Nixon fan until Nixon lied to him about Watergate.

Nixon ran his campaign on a "secret way to end the Vietnam war". He had no secret way and actually escalated the war by bombing Cambodia.

2) It would have been nice if Ford had released his objections to Bush, cheney and rumsfeld and the Iraq war before he died. Instead he told Woodward, two years earlier in 2003 or 4, not to release his comments until he died.

He knew we were on the wrong path and his country needed his help, but he was not willing to face the heat while he was alive and when he could have done the most good. That was a shame. But, I will give him the benifit of the doubt. He may have been too old and tired, being over 90. I can understand that one-lol.
