I must say though, that the 6,000,000 is a very round number. I know Germans are orderly, but getting it just right is odd.
Actually it was closer to 11,000,000. Six million is counting the Jews only, but the Germans did some wholesale removals of other troublesome peoples - gypsies, homosexuals, Polish military or intelligentsia, criminals, political prisoners, etc.
How do we know 11,000,000? That's how many one-way railroad tickets the German railroads issued for passengers shipped to the camps in cattle cars.
Like you say, the Germans were very orderly. Their own evidence-keeping damned them.
Saddam's Baathists kept pretty good records too. But it does no good if normally bright people deny the evidence. |
