This is old news, believe it or not. It was available from a Vickers report a couple of weeks ago, and was responsible (IMHO) for the dip at that time. Even the large sale by Mr. Gifford was a small percentage of his holdings, and his first sale in nearly a year. It is interesting that you would cross post this info to the LLTC, MLIN, AMAT, and MXIM threads even though you state that you have no interest in the stock. Are you looking for an entry point or something? I am not looking for an entry point, one way or another. Simply posting information that is publicly available. I simply came across this MXIM massive selling in reviewing some other insider trades reported on 9/29 and came out to SI to see how people reacted to it.... I was surprised to see barely anyone discussing it, so I did a full-text search on MXIM to determine who would the potential interested parties might be and SI came back with those forums. I've been burned in the past buying without all the facts, and have appreciated SI and others valuable posts one way or the other.
