Not to mention that in California, at least, you'll lose the Prop. 13 tax break, which pins your property tax at the time you bought your home, not the current value.

But whatever. I've always wondered why home mortgage interest continues to be tax-deductible, now that 70% of all Americans own their own homes. Except for the fact that repealing it now would be disasterous on most of those homeowners, since they've built their finances around it. Dare I say it, it's an "entitlement."
