Hey butthorn, nobody cares how long you're in country, they care what you do while you're in-country. Some fat ass can sit at a desk job for four years and it doesn't mean squat.

Kerry was in intense combat for about 90 days straight, and in-country about 6-7 months total, suffered three wounds, killed a lot of enemy and rescues his boat mates numerous times winning the Silver and Bronze Star. 90 days of straight combat is similar to three years of normal duty. Up on the Mekong there was no R+R and comfy base camp, they called them "days of hell". Kerry also ferried SpecOps into Cambodia on secret missions. Like APOCALYPSE NOW. It was very hairy stuff.

You try being up some hellish river for 90 days straight with enemy firing at you from all sides in a 24/7 hot tense situation. It makes a man out of you in about 90 minutes.
