Speaking of the Google guys, they are also funding Nanosolar. A privately owned thin film PV manufacture. They expect to start delivering in 2007, and estimate panel costs at $1/watt.
These guys seem to have cracked the code for thin film PV. This tech could/will put a serious hurt on the silica wafer producers unless they are in a position to adapt.
