Tuesday September 30 1:40 PM EDT RESEARCH ALERT - Ascend buy reiterated NEW YORK, Sept 30 (Reuter) - SBC Warburg Dillon Read said on Tuesday it reiterated its buy rating on shares of Ascend Communications Inc, after the company announced its third quarter net income would fall short of Wall Street estimates. Analyst Robert MacLellan said in a research note saying the share price represented an attractive buying opportunity. Long-term Ascend was fundamentally sound, strategically strong and very cheap, he said. The company said late Monday its third quarter net income would be far less than Wall Street expected because of weak sales abroad and a delay in the introduction of a key product.
